Never Ask a Smartass for a Letter of Recommendation

My best friend is a teacher and one of her fellow teachers asked her to write his letter of recommendation as he moves to a new school. Here’s the disastrous result:

(Note: This was a total JOKE! She didn’t actually send this letter and her real letter was 100% normal. But she did give him a scare when she emailed him a “copy for his reference”.) Hope you guys enjoyed! Has anyone pulled your leg recently? Tell me about it!

This would have been an awesome April fools trick!

  2. Melissa says:

Did she actually send this to his new employer?

This actually seems like kind of a jerk move to me.

  3. @Melissa: No, she didn’t! She sent this to him pretending it was a copy of what she sent.

Wow that’s pretty brutal. I don’t think the problem was just the she was a smartass. It sounds like she genuinely did not like this fellow teacher. If she did like him, I’m not really what she was thinking with this letter. It’s as if she realized he was moving on and saw it as her chance to criticize the hell out of him. I’d be interested to hear how he responded to this. Obviously he wouldn’t really be able to send this letter off as a recommendation.

@American Debt Project: lol ok, that makes more sense. I hope he was able to take it as a joke haha.

  6. It’s funny if it’s fake but one of the meanest things ever if it’s real.

  7. I cleared it up in the post that this wasn’t the real letter. She’s a smartass, not a total jerk!

That is hilarious! That’s something to do if someone has been a real dick to you over some long period of time. Though in today’s day and age, I imagine if it was send someone would get sued. Perhaps you’ve got a new feature series here, you could review other blogs in a similar manner. :)

HAHAHAHHA that is great. Imagine if you were a hiring manager and you got a letter like that. How could you not laugh and how would you honestly think that it was true.

  16. That is hilarious! My luck would be if I wrote it, I would have accidentally sent it out.

  17. Only a good friend would go to such great depths for scare that like that. Funny stuff.
