I’m in a Whirlwind of Emotion.

I try not to get too personal around here, but December was long and arduous. Arduous I tell you! I started a new job that is awesome, moved to a new place, took three weekends to clean out the old place, had lots of family visiting, and started looking at properties to buy. In all of this, my boyfriend and I are living apart until we find said property that is equidistant from our jobs. Oh wait, he’s not my boyfriend anymore.

We got engaged!

Haha, I know! I totally tricked you, right? We’re sneaky like that. He tricked me too. We talked before Christmas and he hinted that we would be engaged by the end of 2013…when all along he was planning to propose on the very first day of the year. So I am elated. We both had the biggest smiles on our faces and kept saying, “It feels different!” and I feel lucky to be with him. What else can I say? It’s a time to celebrate and enjoy our engagement, since we’re planning a summer 2014 wedding. The big gap is so that we can buy a place first, because after all, a wedding is a day and our everyday love is way more important than a single day. Which is not to say I won’t be doing some Pinterestin’, bride-to-be-in’, venue scoutin’ and guest listin’ in the meantime! I was always a contrarian girl growing up and would refuse to think about things like a wedding, a ring, a dress. Well, he gave me a beautiful vintage diamond and I get to pick out my own ring. And then all the details of the wedding will follow. The only thing I’ve decided on is that it will be outdoors, preferably in a wide open field.

(I’ll return to business and finance next week!)

In a Field Somewhere

Replace that badly-dressed couple with a well-dressed, good-looking pair and you have our future wedding.
